Make Up For A Night Out

Recently, I shared with you lovely people my Everyday Make Up routine – which you can find here. It is very simple and minimalist which is me all over during the cold Winter mornings! But, I am not a Simple Susan all week round ya know! In this post I am going to share with you my Make Up For a Night Out – or just if you fancy dolling yourself up of course!

If you know me at all (if you’re newly stumbling upon my small corner of the internet, you may want to check out my previous ramblings) you will know that I suffer from quite sensitive skin – added in that I also have combination skin can make my Make Up Routine fairly difficult.

Combination skin – where you’re oily in one area and dry in another – for me, I can be oily on my T Zone and flaky and dry in my hair line and cheeks.

So, being an advocate for us sensitive skin girls, I go out of my way to find the best, cheapest and gentlest products possible! This is to enhance our already gorgeous faces but also to help them stay in good form!

So, first up for my Make Up for a Night Out I always start with the amazing primer from Rimmel! I was sent this little diamond a couple of days before Christmas from the amazing people over at Beauty at Tesco and Rimmel – and I’ve become addicted to it! I’ve even done a little blog post about it which features all the goodies I received! It is the PERFECT setter for all sorts of make up – whether it’s a tiny amount or a full face. This amazing, light weight primer is perfect for helping you stay looking dewy and freshly made up! I usually apply this amazing primer after lathering myself in Soap And Glory Moisturizer to tame my dry skin!

The primer lasts all day and night and helps my make up stay exactly where it should be! It is very light weight and not greasy at all! I try to apply it liberally, but I’m so scared I’ll run out so I am being less generous as more time goes on – and surprisingly, I’m getting the same effect with less! It is the perfect product for a lasting look – and helps your make up stay put even after throwing shapes on the dance floor. And another bonus is, it wont break the bank!

Next up, I apply a generous amount of Maybelline’s Cover Stick. This helps hide any eye bags or blemishes. Again, this product is something I tend to wear on a daily basis and a little goes a long way! If i am feeling extremely tired and dowdy looking, obviously I apply more. The great thing about this product is that it doesn’t feel heavy or cakey so if you need to apply more you can without a second thought! Perfect for the miserable January weather, sucking all the colour and happiness out of your skin! (I’m so over Winter, in case you can’t tell! Bring on light mornings, cocktails and HEAT!) This little piece of make up, again, wont break the bank either. As a little side note, I apply my concealer in a large triangle directly under my eyes, down my nose and over the bow of my lips. It is much more effective than dotting concealer under the eyes- adds more coverage and an even finish!

Once my concealer has set and I’ve adjusted any blemishes that may need some encouragement to stay hidden, I apply about a pea sized amount of Maybelline’s Dream Satin Liquid Foundation. As a make up blogger, I often try out lots of different make up, foundation definitely being one of them. This product has become one my new favorites for the Winter as it’s light weight and has great coverage! It is non-greasy and although I have been told I have a tiny head (thanks family members) I don’t need to use a lot at all! That may be due to the amazing primer added before hand though!

Once that has settled in I apply my favorite Strobing and Contouring products from BarryM. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, I’ve done a blog post to cover it. Just click the link here. These amazing products from one of my favorite companies, BarryM, will really help you get that oh so on trend look! I apply the lighter colour under my eyes, along on jaw line, down my nose and above my cupids bow. Then blush with the darker colour, contour with the darkest colour and accentuate my nose too. If you are unfamiliar with the product, it may take you some time to get used to it but it’s got so much bang for its buck! It’s my all time fave product for this and the look is perfect! This is all I actually apply face wise! The product is so light weight and fresh and can be wiped off easily which is great for getting in at 3 am and bed being your only wish!

I very rarely wear eye shadow as I SUCK at it! If anyone would like to help out that would be grand! So I stick with this amazing liquid eye liner I found on Born Pretty – it was really cheap and does the trick while I’m between brands. And I’m no blog snob – if it works and it’s cheap it’s usually a winner from me! Depending on how sassy I feel, I’ll either go with the full flick or just top liner. Following that I apply my fave mascara from Soap and Glory – thick and fast! I swear by my Model’s Own Eye Lash Curlers and I ALWAYS heat them slightly with my hair dryer before curling my lashes with them for the best effect. I also warm my mascara up before I use it which helps too!

I am currently trialing fLash Eye Lash Serum to help my eye lashes grow, it’s a three month trial so you will have to wait a little longer to see my post about it! Stay tuned!

So, that is how I achieve my Make Up For a Night Out! What products do you use?

Loved reading your new Blog post Rosie, I love Rimmel they are an amazing brand that I really adore so much. I’m definitely a bargain hunter when it comes to buying anything especially beauty products. I wish I could buy high end make up but I would never stop looking for bargains even then too. Makeup Revolution is my new ultimate fave and come a close second in my eyes. Next Haul I do will be a Rimmel and Makeup Revolution Haul and I can’t wait for that day to arrive.
That Get up and Glow by Barry M looks gorgeous too. Not really tried much of Barry M Products, I’ve tried Barry M nail polishes and I wasn’t really impressed to be honest but I’ve never tried any makeup from them.
    Great blog post

  6. I’ve never heard of heating your eyelash curlers! It sounds like such a grand idea! With eyeshadow I was exactly the same I had no idea how to properly apply it. Personally I think the right tools make the difference. I large and small eyeshadow brush are a must (real techniques have great ones) but a blending crease brush really helps it’s probably the best brush and of course watching lots and lots of YouTube tutorials! xx

You look stunning! I really like this makeup look, and it doesn’t sound at all complicated or too time consuming which is always a plus!

I’f you’re a bit scared of eyeshadow, I’d say to start experimenting with neutral matte shades. That way you can play around with different techniques and stuff, but even if you muck it up a bit you won’t look too scary haha. And then if you start to feel a bit more confident you can go on onto bolder shades? Another tip I’ve heard is to do your eyeshadow first, that way if you muck it up you can easily take it off without ruining the rest of your flawless makeup. It’s a trick Beyonce’s makeup artist swears by so it’s got to be good 😉

Amazing blog! Is the theme custom made or do you download it from somewhere?

A design like yours with a few simple tweeks would really make my blog jump out.
Please tell me where you got your theme. With thanks
