How to get into the Christmas Spirit Part 1

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! When everyone gets together to celebrate and be merry! But some people struggle to get into the Christmas Spirit – at all!

This is my attempt at spreading Christmas cheer and helping you get into the Christmas mood! So, sit back and enjoy!

One way to get into the Christmas spirit is to go and visit your family. If you are fortunate like me, your family wont love too far away. If, on the other hand, your family live a little further afield then you should plan a trip back to your Mum’s kitchen! I am a hugely family orientated person and know that I could receive all the gifts in the world and still be unhappy if I don’t get to spend Christmas with my huge family. The best bit about being around family is that they know you; they are totally OK with you reverting back to your eight year old self, wearing fluffy pajamas, racing around the house searching for those little chocolate coins! Go on, take a trip home, pack your fluffiest PJs and don’t look back!

Another great – and sadly unpopular way to get into the Christmas Spirit is to send out Christmas cards. I’ve always wanted to send out Christmas cards and since my boyfriend and I recently moved into our house I have the perfect excuse! It can be seen as old fashioned in this day and age but I really love the thought of buying special cards, writing meaningful messages and sending them out to spread the cheer! If you aren’t convinced, I bet you’ll feel differently if you receive one!

Our first card to our new home last year was such a special moment. It was only from a neighbor but I’ve kept it and squirreled it away in my memory box!

Another great way to get into the Holiday Spirit is to go and see some Christmas Lights/Decorations. Wherever you live, no doubt, your town have gone all out with their Christmas lights. My town definitely does! There is nothing better on a crisp Autumn/Winter night than to poodle your way around your hometown/where you live and just enjoy your settings. Take time to just slow down and enjoy what’s around for you. AND better yet, the beautiful twinkling lights are a PERFECT opportunity for Blogging photos!

When I was little my Mum would surprise us every year on the run up to Christmas. She’d get us all dressed in our pyjamas as normal, then would whip us out into the car, all snuggled in the fluffiest of blankets. Then she’d drive us around the local area to see people’s Christmas decorations! How cute is that? I recommend doing this as an adult – get your jammies on and go for a little drive!

Coming soon will be Part Two of how to get into the Christmas Spirit!

Sad but true, nothing makes me feel more Christmassy that writing cards whilst listening to Christmas music. I love receiving Christmas cards but since leaving primary school I’ve never really been sent them other than by close friends and family.

I was already in the Christmas spirit, but I’m definitely even more, if possible, now that I read this! I remember going for those drives when we spent Christmases in London, to see all the lights. And with nobody else around on Christmas day, it was absolutely amazing ❤
    Happy Friday 🙂

I totally agree with sending out Christmas cards. I love sending them as much as I love receiving them and displaying them in my flat! Lovely post!
