The hottest day of 2015 was spent sweating on the Tube in London, walking up the 34 billion steps of Covent Garden Tube Station and letting go of all inhibitions and singing our hearts out.
The motto for the day was “No one knows us anyway!!”. If you’re wondering what i’m rambling on about, you’ve clearly never been.
I had a Super Trouper of a day at the one and only Mamma Mia theatre show at the Novello Theatre in London.
The huge theatre was packed with fellow ABBA lovers – although I’m quite sure my mum, sisters and I were the most die hard!
The entire show was cheesy and hilarious jam packed with all the ABBA classics that had everyone singing along – though we sang a lot louder than anyone else. Sorry if you sat anywhere near us. Well, sorry to the whole theatre!! We really gave it our all.
The actors were brilliant, so full of energy and they clearly love the show! They were Voulez-Vous-ing to their hearts content and were so engrossed in the performance it was like we were a fly on the wall.
We came out with sore throats and sweaty heads to collect the contraband that had been confiscated from us (naughty – my mum’s obsessed with cans of gin and tonic) to the heat of London. Our performances did not end there though. For the rest of the day we were Dancing Queens in and out of cocktail bars, we Chiquitita‘d into a lovely Italian restaurant, we Waterloo‘d all over footpaths (following many cocktails and a few more cans from my mum’s handbag) and we Thanked Everyone For the Music on the train ride home.
It was one of the best Saturdays I have ever had – partly due to the company and partly because of the amazing Mamma Mia performance.
If you are not an ABBA fan (I mean, if that’s possible!) I would still recommend seeing the theatre production as it was AMAZING!!
So, Thank You, ABBA, For The Music. It will stay with me and go down as one of the best family days out for us.
